Facilities

Preschool classes are held in the classroom wing off of the Family Life Center building.  The director's office is immediately inside the main entrance.  Building access is from the parking lot off of Evergreen Road.  An indoor play area as well as a fenced outdoor playground are available for preschool use.

Calendar

Preschool classes commence the first full week after Labor Day and end just before Memorial Day, otherwise generally following the calendar of the Hillsboro School District.

School Day

Children who begin the school year as 3 year olds attend on Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 12pm.  Children who begin the school year as four year olds attend on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am to 1pm.

Requirements

Children must be of age (3 or 4) by the first day of September of the current calendar year.  This policy concurs with that of the Hillsboro Elementary School District.

Children must be "potty-trained" which means they can care for their own restroom needs and that neither diapers nor "pull-ups" are worn.

Immunizations

Children must be current on all required immunizations at the time of the beginning of the school year.  An approved immunization record from either a doctor or a health clinic should be submitted with each registration application.  Guidelines for immunizations are available from the Washington County Health Department.

Registration

Registration is accomplished by submitting a completed form to the preschool office, along with the immunization record.

The 3's class will be limited to 12 students and the 4's class will be limited to 18 students.

A registration fee of $65 per student is assessed once at the time of registration.  It is non-refundable.

Call the school at 971-724-6539 or email at zionpreschoolhillsboro@gmail.com to set up an appointment to see the facility or for more information.

Tuition

Tuition for the 3's Tuesday/Thursday class is $200 per month. The rate for the 4's Monday, Wednesday, Friday class is $300 per month. All payments are for the month in advance and payable on the first of the month. The first tuition payment is expected the day classes begin. Tuition refunds in cases of withdrawal will be pro-rated.

Staff

The staff is composed of trained and certified teachers and teacher's aides who are committed to the loving and caring guidance of all children through Christian faith and values.

The Program

To support the purpose statement of the preschool, five growth areas will be provided to establish a framework for the daily instructional program. Skill and social development activities are planned to meet the expectations of the kindergarten programs at Forest Hills Lutheran School and the Hillsboro Elementary School District.

Spiritual

The child will experience God's love, care and forgiveness throughout the day by hearing and learning Bible stories, singing hymns and spiritual songs, through prayer, and in living and learning with the staff and other students.  The preschool class will be occasionally involved in the Sunday worship service of the congregation.

Language

Children will have the opportunity to better understand the English language and increase their vocabulary levels through the use of stories, poetry, and song.

Science

The children's interest in the world around them will be expanded as they explore their environment in activities that involve senses of hearing, seeing, touch, taste, and smell.

Social

Each child will have the opportunity to develop a strong sense of personal worth by relating with other children and to better understand their personal responsibilities in groups through games and other structured activities.

Physical

Large motor skills used in running and climbing will be developed through organized play activities along with the improvement of hand-eye coordination by activities that involve drawing, cutting, and painting.

Inclusive Environment

Zion Lutheran Preschool admits students of any race, color, or national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.  It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, and other school-administered programs.
